The mission of the Office Multicultural Affairs (OMA) is to support the personal, academic, cultural and social experience of ethnic minority students and students from other historically under-represented backgrounds; promote the retention of ethnic minority students; provide opportunities for university-wide multicultural education, interaction and dialogue designed to support the growth and development of all students; and to provide individual support and advocacy to ethnic minority students through programming, counseling and advising.

Gavin Myrick, M.Ed.
Director, Multicultural Affairs
B.S., Fayetteville State University; M.Ed., Lincoln University
Gavin Myrick works as the Director of Multicultural Affairs as part of the Department of Student Affairs staff. His experience with student involvement during his undergraduate days fuels his love for reaching students outside the classroom. Cultural programming is truly a passion for Gavin and he is excited for the opportunity to work with MU students.
Gavin graduated from Fayetteville State University in May 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management. In December of 2017, he graduated with his master’s degree in Higher Education from Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. He is a Fayetteville native who enjoys sports, food, and spending time with family.
